Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third year in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began his career in the field of business. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds during his time playing college football. In 1975, he led the group. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an associate director of sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
