In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs at the time within the space of six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of pop music with reggaeton was not only a way to bring new focus to reggaeton, but also brought more attention to Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish generally, and four songs in the year 2016. In 2017, during the peak of the popularity of Despacito the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 tracks in this category. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in 2017. Soon after, pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated with Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton stars were complaining about the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to continue the evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance as well as different styles.
