Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to write and read Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the same year, she recorded her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. As a student in high school she established herself locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton got her first gig in 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her solo songs like Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. The song by Parton, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), hit the No. 1 spot after they split. #1 for the first time in 1974.
