April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is among a few women beach volleyball athletes who be able to do so. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to net her third medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. It may well be that she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or even a good game, she believes the team could win a gold medal. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck as well. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and her sister. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of sports. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in indoor volleyball along with basketball and running track. However she was clearly a cut above the rest when it came to the second sport. According to her bio in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player 1999. The year 2000 was the time she won her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, However, Ross had been a beach-scene celebrity for a long time prior to. She has won major competitions with different players. The other has become an icon of the volleyball world. For six years from 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships in 2009. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross started her college career with the USC Trojans after her high school days. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross hit the beach, and then became a pro. Her career was a success during her time in the NCAA tournament. In her first year at the school, 2000 saw her earn the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Award and also be named an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she managed to become an All-American once more. Through her two final seasons with the Trojans program, she coached the team to win a national championship every time. She was a great player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie never got to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. As a result, Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. Margie remains an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
